The IU South Bend women's basketball team suffered a home loss to Calumet College of St. Joseph on January 17 in the Student Activities Center. The final score was 52-47 in favor of the Crimson Wave, but the points alone don't eclipse the hard fought battle by both teams.

The score was relatively close the entire match, with the Crimson Wave leading for almost the entire game. The Titan women were able to create plays and drive to the basket, but many easy shots were missed by mere inches and cost the Titans the crucial points they needed. The Titan women shot 37.3% from the field compared to Calumet College's 43.1%. Though this was not a horrible shooting percentage for any level of basketball, it was enough to give the game to the Crimson Wave.

Emily Strilich led the women's squad in scoring with 12 points and Lizzie Stapke chipped in 11 of her own. Nichole Sly led the team in rebounds with 7.

The next home game for the Titans will be this Saturday, January 21 at noon as the first game in a double header against home town rivals Holy Cross. The Titan women beat Holy Cross earlier this season in a crazy comeback overtime victory by 1 point. So far, they have never been beaten by the Saints. Come to the game this Saturday to support your Titans and their undefeated all-time record over Holy Cross.
