On Thursday, November 17, IU South Bend's Advertising and Marketing Club hosted a Video Game Expo Night at Student Housing. The expo featured a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Tournament, with a three-dollar entry fee and a prize of a $25 GameStop gift card. Other games included FIFA 12, Uncharted 3, Mario Kart 64 and traditional Pool and Ping Pong.
The club's Special Events Coordinator Brandon Hurdt said, "Mainly the objective was to fundraise and to get more members and create more of a social space as well. We had just last year a quickie date around Valentine's Day, and we're thinking about doing that again."
The club allows members to host events to hone their marketing skills and attempt to gain recommendations.
According to Hurdt, the recommendations are one of the biggest positives to joining the club, especially for seniors.
The club's mission statement is, "We concentrate our work on contributing to the IU South Bend student community, on supporting IU South Bend's faculty body as well as the local community."
Andrew Duncan was the winner of the Call of Duty tournament. The Advertising and Marketing Club plans to host another quickie date sometime in the spring semester as well as a Holiday Party for its members.
